LUA will partner with Solar Cookers International to provide solar cooking equipment to two secondary schools in northern Tanzania. This equipment will augment each school's feeding program.
Both schools serve indigenous populations which are mostly Maasai people. The two schools tentatively selected are Orkeeswa Secondary School (Lashaine area) and Orkolili Secondary School (Kilimanjaro Plains area). It is our hope that bringing solar cooking to these schools will, by example, help seed interest in and the use of solar as a replacement for cooking with wood in these largely arid, deforested areas. More than 240 students will benefit.
